Mechanism of Benoquin:
- Benoquin cream has been specifically formulated with 20% monobenzone in it which is known for its de pigmenting properties.
- Benoquin is more useful and effective when the body is covered with more than 50%-75% of the white patches on the body.
- Since the destruction of the melanocytes causes white patches hence monobenzone cream is used only for vitiligo treatment.
- After its application on the skin it starts working on the darker areas of the skin and starts de pigmenting it and hence restores both the skin condition by maintaining uniform coloring of the skin.
- After the treatment with Benoquin once will notice the improvement in the complexion of the skin.
Precautions to be taken while using Benoquin:
Though this medication is safe it is of extreme importance to use this medication with utmost care and caution:
- Benoquin has been wrongly guessed as a beauty enhancing cream. Since it has a composition of monobenzone chemical in it can permanently de pigment the skin by destroying the melanocytes beneath the skin.
- Benoquin must only be used to treat Benoquin and skin discoloration condition and not on any other skin conditions such as freckles, acne, wrinkles etc.
- Patients who are allergic to Benoquin must avoid its usage.
- While you are undergoing treatment with Benoquin then over exposure to sun light must be avoided to protect your skin from skin tanning as the monobenzone in it is very sensitive to the ultra violet rays of the sun.
Side effects associated with Benoquin:
Though there are very rare side effects with respect to this medication but there are possibilities of below side effects:
- Skin irritations and itching
- Reddening and hives on the skin
- Swelling of the face and occurring of rashes
- Problems with breathing.
Dosage and Administration
Daily application of Benoquin mainly 2-3 times daily is recommended for getting best results. The medication starts showing up results within 4-6 months of regular application.
